I made this logo for one of those companies where you can "buy" a star and name it (I made up the company). I used a pink background. I used the text to write Catch and Star, added a star, and expanded the top "arm" of the star. I then wrote the A in pink. When I put it in Gimp to get transparency, I set pink to alpha, leaving me with the font and the cut-out of the A.

Very Basic, Very Awesome

This took 2 steps total. I made a "star" with 29 points. Then i used the shift and move thing that I discovered and made one quick motion and it came out like this.

Crazy Sunflower

This is a sunflower logo that could represent Sun Chips or a children's programming network. I started with a star and upped the corners to 47. Then using the spiral tool I changed the amount of turns. With the calligraphy tool I drew the stem and then I got two circles used the tweak tool. I drew the lines of the leaves with the Bezier tool. Thanks to Caleb I got the stem under the flower by lengthening the stem and then pressing page down.

Organic Anyone?

This kind of reminded me of something you would see on a label for organic food or something to do with nature. I started out by making the sun by using the star tool and upping the number of angles until it turned into a sun. I also used the calligraphic tool and made the tree trunk. Then on a new layer I made a circle and made it into more of a pac-man shape. Then I used the wave tool to make it into more of an oval shape. Then I used a rectangle to make the grass.

It's Everywhere

After I made this, it reminded me of all the subliminal logos you see in movies where the people don't realize that the logo itself is on just about everything. To get this I used the star tool and made a 5-point star and then twisted it into the shape you see. Then I copied and pasted smaller versions of the star and changed the color.

Latern Logo

So far, this is my first logo that I've done. I was thinking that it could be used by some small business that provides help with a service or product. The logo itself was fairly simple to make, I just mainly used the paintbrush tool in GIMP for the lantern's black structure along with the gradient tool for the light inside and outside of it.

Ok, so this took ALL week. I started out with a bunch of pictures of each of them in "superhero" poses. I then took each one and erased around them, putting them on a transparent background. Kristyn was already in her black spandex, so her outfit was easy, but Katelyn was not, so I had to erase more of her pants to make it appear a tighter outfit. I then used the brightest yellow and filled in where Kate was getting hit by the most light and them darkened/faded away. I then used the cartoon filter on them each individually, with a low mask radius and a high percent black.

For the background, I decided to go simple with straight lines. I then found a font generator online to create the text. When I had finished, I used the cartoon filter on the whole background and then added them in on a layer.

I had to play around a lot with the cartoon filter, not wanting to accent their features too much, but still wanting them to look kind of drawn. I realized it worked better with a smaller picture with less details, so before I started editing each picture, I put it into Paint to shrink it. Then, I could be a little less detailed with the edges and it was quicker to save. It literally took all week, every day, but I think I am happy with it!
